MELANIE BERNER
Artistic Associate
Melanie has had the pleasure of working with Jackalope since the summer of 2008 when they put up their very first show, and she has had a hand or a key role in the design of every production since. She was born and raised in Chicagoland and moved to this city to pursue a life of art and collaboration. Melanie attended Columbia College Chicago where she received a B.F.A. in Theatrical Design, and awards such as the Presidential Scholarship, Michael Merritt Award for Collaboration, and the Albert P. Weisman Grant, which was co-awarded with company member Andrew Swanson. For the past several years she has been designing costumes, sets, props, and puppets for theater and film. She has also worked as a costume technician and crafts person for that span of time out of various shops in Chicago such as Redmoon Theater, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Limebarb Corp., Columbia College, Broadway Costumes, and in her own home. Plainly put, Melanie likes to make stuff. |
